Silver Linings Playbook movie review

Even though this movie has been out for a while. I was quite skeptical to see it. Sure, the reviewers were good and the movie was nominated for Oscars. There was something inside of me that was hesitant. Perhaps because Bradley Cooper has a lead role in a serious movie. Quite frankly, I can't take Bradley Cooper seriously. When Jennifer Lawrence won the much anticipated Oscar for her role as a lead actress in a movie, I couldn't help but wonder how great the movie really must be.

So I decided to watch it. To begin with, the movie started with a mentally disturbed man (Bradley Cooper) who was leaving Mental Institution. The premise of the movie is Bradley Cooper's character trying to get his wife back after his mental breakdown that sent him to the Mental hospital. That's when he met Jennifer's character, a mentally unstable female who lost her husband. They danced together, and fell in love. The end. The movie started decent and I thought I was in for a treat of how deep the movie can be. However, this movie is nothing but a simple Lifetime movie love story. There was no depth to the movie, it was very short and fast paced, and I wasn't a fan of Bradley Cooper's character.

Overall, I'd give this movie a 2 out of 5.

Can we just say B-O-R-I-N-G

Mission Impossible The Ghost Protocol review

The movie for review today is Mission Impossible ghost protocol starring: Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton (whoever that is), and Michael Nyqvist. The IMF has shut down and it’s up to Tom Cruise and his team to figure out and stop the world from having a nuclear war and clear his organization’s name as Tom cruises’ character got set up to believe that he bombed the Kremlin. The movie takes place in Russia, Dubai, and Mumbai and I have to say that the scenes were stunning, the movie was fast paced, filled with variety of action from the start, hot cars, and..well not many hot girls but did I mention hot cars? The best part of the movie is the outstanding gadgets that are used, I don’t want to give anything away but I’ll give you a hint: electrostatic gloves that stick to glass and can be used to climb tall buildings. Aaaaah it was awesome! Overall I’d give this movie a 3.8 out of 5, great action, fast paced, and kinda humorous!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes review

I have seen so many movies this summer. Harry Potter, Transformers, Horrible Bosses, Bridesmaids, Super 8, etc.. But hands down, the best blockbuster this summer is Rise of Planet of the Apes starring James Franco and John Lithgow. Some may wonder why would anyone want to mess with the 1968 masterpiece with Charlton Heston, but I can tell you this: this movie gives us the detail of what happened to the planet and why the apes took over.
This flick has everything! You will cry, laugh, and even feel that you are one of the characters in the movie. The acting was fantastic and the CGI was incredible. The same CGI team did Avatar and Lord of the Rings.
This story is mostly viewed form the Ape's perspective. And let me just mention that before going to see the movie, I wasn't sure how I was feeling about "humans" loosing. But after watching the intense scenes and how horribly the apes were treated, I wanted these giant nasty orangutans to kill kill kill and kill again. But because this movie is PG 13, not a lot of killing was done, which is another reason why I found this movie to be great. It wasn't at all gory, we don't need to have lot of blood and explosions in order for this movie to be impactful.
Overall, this movie receives 5 stars out of 5!

Apollo 18 movie trailer review

I'm all about conspiracy theories, but when it comes to conspiracy about aliens, I go crazy! I do beleive in Aliens, yes oh yes I do.

This movie is based on a true story of an Apollo mission that was later canceled; however, skeptics agree that this mission actually took place and that it is classified as a secret due to the discover of alien life.

The trailer itself doesn't look half bad, it does give off a little of "Event Horizon", vibe. . From the trailer we can see that most of the movie may be filmed from a first person perspective to give the viewers the feel of authenticity. The budget for the film doesn't look big, which is all the better. Movie makers nowadays spend so much money on special effects and 3-D animation that they forget how to produce a movie that viewers can be "wowed" from. I can't stand a movie with so much special effects and 3-D animation and if it was all taken away, the film would be a piece of crap.
Overall, the trailer looks both spooky and exciting. Can't wait to see this bad boy!

Top 3 movies to see in September

There are numerous amounts of movies coming out this July, but here is a list of top 3 sci fi/action/ horror/ movies to see this month. Not listed in any particular order.

1. Machete- Starring:
Danny Trejo, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Jeff Fahey.

I've been excited to see this movie ever since the Grindhouse double feature came out a few years ago. Machete was a mock up trailer for a new Grindhouse flick that turned out to be so popular that Robert Rodriguez decided to make a movie out of it. I can't wait to see the sexy Mexican himself, Danny Trejo in his first starring role. It's going to be crazy, over the top, awesomeness.

Synopsis:
He looked like just another day laborer from the streets, and the perfect fall guy for a crooked political assassination. But he turned out to be Machete (Danny Trejo), a legendary ex-federale with a deadly attitude and the skills to match.

Release date: September 3rd

2. Resident Evil: After Life 3:D- Starring:
Milla Jovovich, Johnny Messner, Boris Kodjoe, Wentworth Miller, Ali Larter, Kim Coates.

To be quite honest, I am not a huge fan of Resident Evil movies. I really enjoyed the first one, anything after that was just abortion of the movies. I think they're taking the name brand way too far for this one. But believe it or not, it is one of the biggest movies to see in September because frankly the movies in September look like they're going to suck.

Synopsis:
In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Release date: September 10th

3. The Town- Starring:
Ben Affleck, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, Jeremy Renner, Chris Cooper, Blake Lively, David Crockett.

The Town was advertised as being produced by the same people who produced Gone baby Gone, and same studio that brought us The Departed (good movie). But at the same time, it's directed by Ben Affleck so it can go either way. Either it's going to be amazing piece of film, or it's going to be painful to watch. We will just have to find out.

Synopsis: Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck) is an unrepentant criminal, the de facto leader of a group of ruthless bank robbers who pride themselves in stealing what they want and getting out clean. With no real attachments, Doug never has to fear losing anyone close to him. But that all changed on the gang's latest job, when they briefly took a hostage--bank manager, Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall). Though they let her go unharmed, Claire is nervously aware that the robbers know her name...and where she lives. But she lets her guard down when she meets an unassuming and rather charming man named Doug...not realizing that he is the same man who only days earlier had terrorized her. The instant attraction between them gradually turns into a passionate romance that threatens to take them both down a dangerous, and potentially deadly, path. Release date: September 17th

8 Badass Sci-Fi Predictions That Came True In Lame-Ass Ways

Thank you TommyO for finding this article :)

"Every day, frustrated people around the globe wonder via sarcastic t-shirt whatever happened to the future we were promised as children. A future in which everyone flies their hovercar to a four-hour workday at the cybermines, breaking off only to pop a protein pill and hop a transport tube to the exercise pods. After all, the iPhone is kind of like a Star Trek communicator (especially this iPhone) and some of those giant glass underwater hotels they’re building in Dubai rival Heinlein on a good day. But what about the rest? Our jetpacks, robots and laser guns? Were they just sweet fiction, the hollow promises of a society longing for the comfort and freedom of a spandex unitard? Sadly, no. The disappointing truth is that the futuristic devices we’ve demanded for so long are already here. Just different … and kind of shitty. It’s like when you order something at Denny’s based on the picture on the menu, but when the food comes out it looks like a pile of phlegm smothered in gravy. Behold: the future (in phlegm and gravy form)!"

Top 3 movies to see in August 2010

There are numerous amounts of movies coming out this July, but here is a list of top 3 sci fi/action/ horror/ movies to see this month. Not listed in any particular order.

1. The Expendables- Starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I'm quite excited to see this movie, as I feel it's going to be action packed, the most unrealistic type stunts, leave your brain at the door type movie. I mean Sylvester,Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, even Bruce Willis is in it! This is going to be the most testosterone filled movie, but I don't mind seeing old hotties :).

Complete cast list:
Stallone himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, and Jet Li, as well as more recent stars such as Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, and Steve Austin.

Synopsis:
"The Expendables" follows a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal.

Release date: August 13th

2. Piranha 3-D. Starring Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames.

Not familiar with anyone in this cast, but the title pretty much summarizes the whole movie. I need to see as much blood gushing out from the most obscure body parts such as the Gull Bladder, even better a Clavicle.

Synopsis: From acclaimed director Alexandre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes") comes the new action thriller "Piranha 3D", in the latest eye-popping 3D technology. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself.

Release date: August 20th.

3. Vampires Suck- Starring Ken Jeong, Matt Lanter, oh who cares I mean the "Vampires suck" is worth seeing despite the no name actors. Although not really a sci fi film, who can resist the title itself especially with the whole vampire craze we have going on. This movie is actually a parody of Twilight Saga. I'm ready to see this good version of Twilight :)

Synopsis: A spoof of the vampire movie genre, particularly "The Twilight Saga." Becca, an anxious, non-vampire teen, is torn between two boys. Before she can choose, Becca must get around her controlling father, who embarrasses Becca by treating her like a child. Meanwhile, Becca’s friends contend with their own romantic issues – all of which collide at the prom.

Release date: August 18th.
