Inception Movie Review

The Matrix has nothing on the riveting mind bending story of Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, and Ken Wantabe. Directed by Christopher Nolan who also directed Batman: The Dark Knight. The movie features a "thief" by the name of Dom Cobb (Dicaprio) who is capable of extracting the most important information from people by going deep inside the subconscious mind during sleep. Dom Cobb a fugitive in the United States is given the opportunity to do "INCEPTION" on one of the most powerful tycoons in the world. The only way Mr.Cobb can return back safely to the Untied States is if he plants the idea into the Tycoon's head.

PROS: While not the best movie out there, Inception offers the view into a completely new idea of espionage. The movie length is 2 ad 1/2 hours but is able to trick to viewer into thinking it only lasted only 5 minutes. Inception, in terms of special effects, is no Transformers, Alice in Wonderland, or James Cameron's Avatar; but it doesn't need to be. This movie is a perfect example that it can still be an amazing flick without 3-D or caking on special effects. The plot itself is quite complex and will keep the viewer engrossed into the idea of going deep below subconscious mind. Actors wise, you can't go wrong here. I would love to see Leo in a different role and do think he's typecasted but he's amazing just the way he is.

CONS: I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of artwork, loved the script and the story, but I just wish the movie would have a twist that I already didn't expect. Throughout the movie I kept on guessing what was going to happen next, hoping to be wrong. Sadly, nothing happened that I did not already forsee.
I was also a bit disappointed at the end.

To conclude, this movie is the best flick of the summer hands down.

Dood, Sci, what the eff??

@"The Matrix has nothing on the riveting mind bending story of Inception"

Totally disagree! The Matrix brought revolutionary special effects to the table and has one of the most bad ass action movie soundtracks out there. The entire movie is a huge metaphor; being 'plugged into the Matrix' is a metaphor for being plugged into the whole television-enthralled American consumerist debacle. The whole movie has a great social commentary that I hadn't experienced since watching Fight Club. The fight scene choreography was spectacular. How can you talk down on The Matrix like this! This is blasphemy! This is madness!

@"This movie is a perfect example that it can still be an amazing flick without 3-D or caking on special effects."

I personally enjoyed Inception just for the special effects! The pseduoscience in the movie was interesting, but the mass psychological 'facts' that were tauted in the film drove me absolutely mad. When Leo is chatting with the girl at the coffee stand, about 10% of what he says about the human mind was actually true, the rest of it was all BS. Editing was sub-par, with numerous instances of contradictions. Overall, it was the kind of movie I watch one time and enjoy, but that I would never buy and reluctantly nod my head in approval when it is discussed amongst my friends. I hardly think it's worthy of more praise than the Matrix.
